Trout Fishing At New Spicer Meadow Reservoir

mommydaddyfishing This week we headed west towards Ebbets Pass in the Sierra Nevada mountains for a weekend trout fishing trip.  I recently turned into a sport fisherman because I am learning to like the things that my wife loves to do.  My wife has this fishing bug that I cannot seem to quell.  Maybe it will slow down before I start really enjoying it.

Light Weight Camping Gear

My family loves to go car camping every chance that we can get.  We retired our Subaru Outback wagon last year because we tend to take more than we need and the vehicle bottoms out and bought an old Ford Club Wagon. We have at least twice the storage capacity and can sleep inside the van.  The improvement was worth the cost.

Mark Is Now A Sport Fisherman

trout-fishing I need to be honest here and tell you that sport fishing is not my favorite pastime.  My wife is determined to make me a sport fisherman.   I fish for food.  It’s a means to the end-I fish when I am hungry.   I have only “fished” once in my lifetime for the sake of fishing and I really did not enjoy it.  It may be hard for  you to believe that I acted as a fishing guide on the waters of Lake Minnetonka as a young boy and was paid for it.   I knew where and how to fish for crappies, blue gills, and sun fish.  It was about as hard as showing someone where the sun was going to set-in the west.
